The Brazil Riachuelo Submarine (S40) is part of Brazil’s modern Riachuelo class fleet, launched in the late 2010s to strengthen the country’s naval defense and underwater capabilities.

Measuring 36 inches in length, this model is handcrafted from premium Canadian red cedar, Teak, and Mahogany,... using plank-on-frame technique. It takes around 3 to 6 months to complete, with every detail thoughtfully brought to life by skilled artisans.

We build each model until you are fully satisfied. During production, we’ll send you detailed photos at each key stage:
- Hull construction
- Deck detailing and structures
- Final painting and finishing touches

Once the final version is approved, your model will be securely packed in a custom wooden crate with protective cushioning to ensure safe delivery anywhere in the world.

History:

Brazil Riachuelo Submarine (S40) is a series of diesel-electric attack submarines built for the Brazilian Navy, based on the French Scorpène-class design. Developed under the PROSUB program, it is the result of a 2008 defense partnership between Brazil and French. The submarines are being constructed domestically by Itaguaí Construções Navais (ICN) with technology transfer from French, aiming to modernize Brazil’s fleet and lay the groundwork for a future nuclear-powered submarine.

The first unit, Brazil Riachuelo Submarine (S40), was launched in 2018 and commissioned in 2022. Compared to the original Scorpène, it features a larger hull and greater displacement—around 2,000 tons submerged. It is equipped with advanced sonar, torpedoes, and anti-ship missiles, and designed for stealth, long-range patrols, and operation in Brazil’s extensive maritime zones.

Brazil Riachuelo Submarine (S40) enhances Brazil’s naval presence and defense industry. Four submarines are planned in total, including Humaitá, Tonelero, and Angostura, which are in various stages of construction. The program represents a major step in strengthening Brazil’s self-reliance and strategic influence in the South Atlantic.
